After a dream-fulfilling 2006, Olympic Gold Beagles had another sterling year in 2007. Our newest boy “Mikey,” Multi BIS / BISS / Phil HOF / Aust Ch Orobay Back To Reality, finished 2007 as PCCI’s #7 All-breed Dog of the Year, #4 National Dog of the Year, #1 Hound and #1 Beagle for both the PCCI and National show systems. 2007 marked the sixth consecutive year that a beagle we’ve bred, owned or co-owned became the country’s top hound and beagle.

In 2006, our very own homebred female beagle, "Bumper," Multi BIS / Multi BISS / Multi RUBIS / Multi BPBIS / Multi BBPIS / Phil HOF / Asian Ch Olympic Gold's First Edition was the Philippines' National Dog of the Year and the Philippine Canine Club Incorporated's Dog of the Year! The PCCI is the Philippines' equivalent of the AKC.

The National top dog competition, which was brought back in 2006, is an accumulative total of all the points scored in all the shows in the country plus the big PCCI shows. The PCCI top dog competition only counts all the large and prestigious PCCI shows. Bumper finished #1 in both systems! Bumper was also the country's Philippine-Bred Dog of the Year for 2006!. We owe everything to the Lord our God!

She was also the Philippine Hound Group Club's Hound of the Year and Philippine Bred Hound of the Year. Bumper was likewise the Beagle Fancier's Club Beagle of the Year and Philippine Bred Beagle of the Year!

Dog showing in the Philippines has been in existence for over forty years now. Finally, after over four decades, a beagle’s NUMBER ONE! This is the first time ever in our country that a beagle has won top dog all-breeds. Bumper created history!

Basically, she swept ALL the major beagle, hound and all-breed top dog awards for 2006. It just doesn't get any better. We feel truly blessed!

Her handler, Gerry Narabal, deserves a big applause for all his dedication and perseverance. Today, Gerry is certainly one of the country's top handlers.

In 2005, Bumper was the PCCI's #2 top dog of the year all-breeds, #1 hound and #1 beagle! Aside from being the nation's runner up dog of the year, she was also 2005's #1 bitch. Bumper likewise was 2005's Philippine Hound Group Club Inc.'s #1 hound, #1 beagle and #1 Philippine-bred hound. Bumper is the youngest beagle to attain her championship, grand championship and to enter the Philippine hall of fame.

Before Bumper, only one other beagle made it to the top ten all-breeds, Striker, Bumper's sire, who finished #8 top dog All-Breed in 2003. Like father, like daughter!

Olympic Gold Beagles is a small hobby kennel located in Manila, Philippines. I started showing rotts in 1993, but had to stop soon thereafter as I went off to take up my tertiary studies in Canada. My beagle kennel was established only in 2002, with the arrival of Multi BISS / Multi RUBIS / Phil HOF / Am Ch / Asian Ch Windkist Strike Zone, the Philippines' number one hound and beagle for 2002, 2003 and 2004.

As of the moment, I am still in the process of adding the final pieces of Olympic Gold's foundation stock, adhering to the principle of one of my mentors, " the shortest path to breeding success is a great line." The beagles of Olympic Gold are line bred to top producing and winning beagles in the United States and other parts of the world.

I don't aim to produce the most number of champions as I take pride in breeding selectively, breeding only the best. I'm into dog showing and breeding because of my love for dogs. Breeding is a passion, not a money-making venture. I strive to produce quality champions, giving uttermost importance to producing beagles that are healthy with sound temperaments. Let us earn and provide for our dogs and not the other way around.

My goal is to promote ethical, responsible and quality breeding, while advocating responsible ownership. At Olympic Gold, I take pride in breeding to conform to the standard. Quality and not quantity is key.

The year 2006 was significant for all Philippine beagle enthusiasts. It will always be remembered as the year Bumper created history and the year the Beagle Fanciers Club of the Philippines was formed and granted affiliation by the PCCI.

Being one of the most popular breeds in the country, beagles rightfully deserve a breed club to protect its interests. On behalf of all my co-founding directors, I would like to assure all beagle lovers that we will try to our best to safeguard the best interests of our beloved breed.
